3 months ago, PAWS animal shelter brought us a 6-month-old shepherd mix puppy that was limping on her front leg. The staff of VCA Tanglewood immediately fell in love with the dog and named her Ariel. After examination and radiographs, Dr. Stried discovered that the puppy’s leg was not only broken, but was also shot in 3 separate places. Because the wound had been there for a considerable amount of time, the tissue and bone damage was so severe that the best option was amputation. After the surgery, the staff decided that they would rather Ariel heal at the hospital where everyone could take turns taking her home, rather than stay at a busy shelter. After 3 months, the staff couldn’t say “goodbye.” One staff member took Ariel home, and after the kids met her, that was it. Now Ariel not only has a great, loving home, but also a very large extended family that loves her very much. |
